
Two international reggae stars Alpha Blondy and Barington Levy will be performing in Jerusalem on August 28 at the second annual Zion Reggae Festival. Blondy who hails from the Ivory Coast has a large following in Israel partly because of his famous songs Jerusalem and Massada as well as a number of other songs that feature Hebrew phrases and descriptions of visits to Israel. Barrington Levy, also has his own special Jerusalem connection, originally from Jamaica, Levy has been a well-known reggae performer since the late 1970s. He recorded a hit in 2000 with the rapper Shyne, who today goes by the name Moshe Levi and studies at a yeshiva in Jerusalem.
