Yossi

A lonely, closeted gay cardiologist in Tel Aviv is brought out of his shell when he falls in with a footloose band of IDF soldiers, in Eytan Fox’s sensitive and moving sequel to his 2002 festival hit Yossi & Jagger.

Note

In this sequel to Yossi & Jagger, his tragic love story about the fraught relationship between two IDF soldiers, acclaimed Israeli director Eytan Fox continues the story of Yossi (Ohad Knoller), a closeted gay man now working as a cardiologist in a Tel Aviv hospital. Leading a quiet and solitary existence and continually rebuffing his co-workers’ attempts to get close to him, Yossi has his life turned upside down when a chance encounter with a mysterious woman from his past spurs him to leave the city. Travelling the desolate roads of southern Israel, Yossi encounters a group of young IDF officers — including the handsome, self-confident, and openly gay Tom (Oz Zehavi) — whose passion for life ignites his desire to reconnect with the world. “[Fox's] most accomplished film to date”; “a lovely little film about grief[,] aging and life’s second chances” (Indiewire).\
