Passengers aboard an Easy Jet flight from London to Israel last Friday evening held a minute of silence for the slain Israeli athletes and coaches of the 1972 Olympics, while the aircraft flew over Munich.

The International Olympic Committee rebuffed calls from around the world to hold a minute of silence during the opening ceremonies last week in London, however when passengers aboard the commercial flight heading towards Israel realized they would be flying over Munich – the site of the 1972 massacre – they requested a moment of silence aboard the aircraft.

The flight’s captain agreed to the request, asking passengers to spend a minute in silence in honor of the 11 athletes and coaches killed by Palestinian terrorists.

Instead of holding a moment of silence during the opening ceremonies, which reportedly would have lead to a  boycott by Arab states, the IOC honored the murdered members of Israel’s delegation to the 72′ Games inside the Olympic village, last Monday.
